DRUNK ACCORDION FUNK CONSORTIUM - GLENN HARTMAN's BIRTHDAY BASH @ Boom Boom Room/S.F. - 8/7/09
Last night, a collection of AMAZING musicians performed together in honor of... GLENN HARTMAN's BIRTHDAY BASH show @ The Boom Boom Room! w/ Eric McFadden, Paula O'Rourke, Glenn Hartman, Jonathan Freilich, Stu Brotman, Sheldon Brown & more!
Last Year....Wally Ingram wrapped up a recent session with Glen Hartman from the one & only bayou legends, The New Orleans Klezmer Allstars. The title of the new World Music release is planned to be "World According to Glen Hartman & Wally Ingram" and we hope to have it released by the end of the year. The New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars (NOKAS) have carried on with their own interpretation of the klezmer tradition since 1991. New Orleans, where arcane cultural borrowing is normal, seems to be a natural home for a music that has always blended diverse styles. Yet, "when we first started playing this music, people had no idea what it was (many still don't)," explains Arthur Kastler, the band's original bass player, "They would stand there with their jaws open.... But right away, they danced."

Wally plays two shows with Jerry Hannan supporting GREGG ALLMAN!
In July, Wally Ingram played two shows with Jerry Hannan/Chris Haugen supporting Gregg Allman at The Independent in San Francisco, California. The shows were GREAT and thanks to all of the folks that came down early to show their support. Jerry Hannan is an amazing songwriter & Wally hopes to play music again with Jerry soon!
Jerry Hannah Bio:
A genuine songwriter and performer to boot. Recently, Hannan recorded his own song, 'Society' with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, which is featured in Sean Penn's film "Into the Wild". "I Thought I Was You", written by Jerry and brother Sean Hannan also plays in "Into the Wild." In 2003, Jerry recorded his second CD "Sounds Like a Story". A new song "DaDaDa" from the CD was featured in the film "The Pledge" (Jack Nicholson). He performed in Sam Shepard's play, "The Late Henry Moss," at San Francisco's Theatre on the Square (along with Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Cheech Marin and Woody Harrelson). He also appeared as a raucous singer who offsets a romantic conversation between Harry Connick Jr and Sarah Jessica Parker. in Sony Picture's "Life Without Dick".
Described as "shades of Dylan, John Prine and Van Morrison...very Americana with a faint Irish lilt", Hannan's songs (like those of Springsteen, Steve Earle and Cat Stevens) speak of our everyday lives and the magic that we sometimes miss. He's a storyteller who loves to stir the crowd. He has been called a "three chord wizard," with guitar, lyrics and harmonica, often funny, sardonic in a good-natured way, dealing with issues like ecology, friendship, love, and what he calls an backward society.
Raised on jigs and ballads in San Francisco's Irish community, Jerry Hannan grew up listening to the music of his Irish-born parents (The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers), as well as Cat Stevens. As a youngster he took accordion lessons, switching to guitar in high school and playing in rock 'n roll bands.
Hannan has just finished recording "Wild Card", an un-plugged solo record which will feature his latest gems including his own version of SOCIETY.
