Chris Aaron will debut his new all-star project ~ Bandallamas ~ in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at the Leach Amphitheater on August 12th, 2010. The Bandallamas include Chris Aaron, Bobby Bryan, Wally Ingram, Rob Wasserman, Pauli Ryan, Victor DeLorenzo, Ken Saydak.

Special guest Richard Davis (Wally’s music professor and mentor) is on the Bandallamas new record and will perform live with the band in Osh Kosh. Quite a thrill and an honor! PurgAtory Hill featuring pat mAcdonald & melanie jane will also be on the bill.

About the Band

Bandallamas is an eclectic group of artists who honor their timeless musical roots by welcoming guest collaborators and new additions to evolve fluidly and incessantly just as music itself has since the first beat reverberated in the core of one of our long-forgotten ancestors. Their debut album, Eye to Eye, includes the musical contributions of legends of diverse performance backgrounds, including special guest performances by Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Gos), pat mAcdonald (Timbuk 3, Purgatory Hill), and Richard Davis, the living jazz legend who has performed with such greats as Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Eric Dolphy, Sarah Vaughan, Steve Miller, Thad Jones, Dexter Gordon, Ahmad Jamal, Barbra Streisand, and more. Staple collaborators include Chris Aaron, who co-founded the group with Pauli Ryan, on guitars and vocals, complimented by urban bluesman Bobby Bryan. Piano and organ player Ken Saydak (Johnny Winter, Lonnie Brooks, Big Shoulders, Mighty Joe Young, Eddie Shaw, Dave Specter, Laurie Bell, Koko Taylor, and more) lends a hand or two, and Rob Wasserman (Jerry Garcia Band, Van Morrison, Woody Guthrie) contributes his unique expert bass stylings. Co-inventor of the six-string fretless upright electric bass, Wasserman was the first musician to master the instrument. Holding it all together are Pauli Ryan (Garbage, L7, U2, Sunvolt), Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne, Tracy Chapman, David Lindley), and Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes) on percussion. The group is based in Denver, Colorado, and records together under the label Bandallamas Records.

Bandallamas is having their CD release party on 8/12 at Waterfest in Oshkosh. They are co-billed with Purgatory Hill (pat mAcdonald and melanie jane) and Loverboy. There are a total of 100 VIP packages for sale, I’m down to about 40 left. The cost for each VIP package is $105.70 (to match with the promo we’re doing on WAPL).

Below are the details on the VIP party/merch offering. Feel free to forward to anyone you can think of that would be interested. You may want to act fast, as I think the 40 packages will go quickly, as I have left voicemails with about 40 people that I’m waiting to return my calls. Note that included with this price is a safe ride program that is running from Sturgeon Bay, Waupun and Waupaca if the purchaser is leaving from one of those destinations.

Summary

We have organized a VIP “meet and greet” after party to be held at Becket’s following the Bandallamas Waterfest gig on 8/12. The goal of pre-sales of these VIP packages is to fund the printing of posters, CD’s, download cards with lanyards and t-shirts.

Becket’s will be open to the public with no cover charge on this night and anyone who has a Waterfest wristband receives 1 free pint of beer, in addition to it being happy hour all night long with $2 drinks. Bobby Bryan will be hosting the evening along with a house band (Mike Underwood on drums, Steve Smith on bass and Bobby Evans on guitar).

There is a room off the main room that will be used for the “meet and greet”. It is circular with a glass wall overlooking the water. We can accommodate up to 100 people. Only people with VIP lanyards will be allowed to enter the VIP room and we will have our own security person (Chris’s cousin – Dan Braaksma) that is currently employed by the State of WI in the Homeland Security Division. Bandallamas will have people who will oversee entrance to the VIP room.

The event will commence at Beckets at 10:30pm, with Bobby Evans to kick off the entertainment. Music will continue all night until bar close. The VIP room will begin at 10:30pm and be open until midnight. The band members will be present for roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour (not to exceed 1 hour) during this timeframe – likely from 11pm to midnight. They will be meeting and greeting and signing merchandise purchased in our VIP package offering.

Sales of the VIP Packages will be done on-line at Bandallamas.com, and we are working the phone lines so they may be gone before the ads even hit the radio. We hope to have links on many different web sites that will promote this opportunity and drive consumers to our web site. In honor of WAPL’s involvement, we’re selling these packages for $105.7. We also have merchandise for sale at Bandallamas.com as of 8/1.

VIP purchasers will pick up their envelopes at the Will Call booth on the Waterfest grounds the day of the show. The envelopes will include their Waterfest tickets, VIP pass for admittance to the VIP room at Becket’s and 2 drink tickets for Becket’s. They will receive their merchandise when they arrive at Becket’s and enter the VIP room, or they can pick it up at Waterfest if they prefer (the merchandise table).
